Character's age: Unknown. Somewhere between 19 and 25, probably.

Background:
December 24, 1989. New York City. Angel is a Hispanic drag queen and street drummer whose run-in with a man named Collins quickly makes her a member of "the Alphabet City avant-garde," a group of very Bohemian friends who celebrate life and inspiration. Angel and Collins quickly become lovers, and are in fact the most (read: only) stable relationship in the musical, until Angel dies of AIDS about ten months later.
It's uncertain how Angel got sick, and it's almost made to not matter. She never lets it get her down, she's active and it's really hard to credit that she's sick at all sometimes. In less than a year, she treats her new friends to a night on the town, helps them break into their old building for New Years, is a constant support to her close friend, Mimi, who also has AIDS and who is a drug addict, makes all her own clothes (apparently pretty cutting edge), and is just happy moving around and living everywhere (almost literally) with her Collins. Even after her death, she has impact, helping heal over the rift between Collins and Benny, inspiring Mark to finish his film, telling Alison (presumably through a letter or something) that Benny had been cheating on her with Mimi, and most importantly, it seems that her spirit ushers Mimi's back into her body after the young Spanish girl's near-death experience, telling her it isn't her time and to "turn around, girlfriend, and listen to that boy [Roger's] song."
Personality:
Angel is a friendly, loving person, to an amazing degree: her friends say that she helped them believe in love, and that the only way her death won't be in vain is if they all stay together and love one another. She is always cheerful and playful despite the fact that she is dying of (or, as he prefers to think of it, "living with") AIDS, and she treats her friends and her lover as something precious. Even more amazing, she treats strangers like she'd treat any friend. Her "catch phrase" of sorts, from the musical, is "today for you, tomorrow for me," which shows her policy of giving what she has to help others, because when she does good things, she trusts good things will happen to him later. And even if they don't, she's happy just doing good things.
Angel's being pulled from after her death, so she knows she's dead and will just face this like she does everything else: with acceptance and optimism, though of course she'll miss her friends and very much miss her Collins. She's also AIDS free, having died of it once already, and a really horrible disease not being such a fun idea for a roleplay... which is good, since she doesn't have any pills on her. She hasn't realized it yet, though.
